Amorphophallus
These exciting and mostly rare aroids native to Asia and Africa come in about 200 different species. The most famous species of the family is of course the very tropical Amorphophallus titanum. Everybody has probably heard of "a giant aroid whose flower stinks like dead rats".
In the US, three species have become pretty widely available, namely A. bulbifer, A. konjac and A. paeonfiifolius. Even though those three "common" species are really worth the effort of growing and excellent to start with, it is our goal to let people know that there are a lot more fascinating species than just those three. Have you ever considered growing A. prainii? Or A. eichleri? Or perhaps the extremely rare Amorphophallus decus-silvae? Or if you want to grow them outside in a cooler climate, you might be interested in getting some A. henryi, A. albus or A. kiusianus. RarePlantsFlorida specializes in these sometimes extremely rare plants. Some of the species that we offer have never been commercially available in the US before.
